The AugustSpring 20252026 Lucite Presidential Election iswas held from Friday, February 27 to be held on Saturday, AugustFebruary 2328, 20252026 to elect the President of Lucite to a six-month term. This is the first presidential election since the formation of the Lucitian Republic, and the first election forAlthough a Lucitianrun-off headround ofwas state since the 2024 United Republic Presidential Election.

Background

Presidential elections occur occasionally in Lucite, with the most recent being the 2024 United Republic Presidential Election. Elections were held irregularly duescheduled to changes in the constitutional arrangements of Lucite, the United Republic and Corallium between 2015 and 2025.

The Constitution of Lucite prescribes that a presidential election must be held at the end of a presidential term which may last no longer than six months. Cabal has served as President since May 2, 2025 following the formation of the Lucitian Republic. As Interim President, Cabal's term is exempt from law and had no fixed expiry date. On August 16, 2025, Cabal announced his intention to terminate the presidential term no later than September 23, 2025 following an election held on Saturday, AugustMarch 23,7, 2025.2026 Cabal secured a majority of formal votes in the Preliminary Round and a run-off was not required.

Former President Cabal beat incumbent President jmvvana winning 60% of the popular vote. Voter turnout was 100%.

Electoral System

The Lucitian presidential election uses a run-off system. The Constitution of Lucite guarantees that every citizen may directly elect the President in a secret ballot. The Electoral Commission of Lucite is empowered by the Senate to conduct a presidential election.

In the first ballot, citizens write the name of their preferred candidate who can be any citizen of Lucite. If no person attains a majority of valid votes in that ballot, a run-off election is held with the two highest polling persons as candidates. If in the first ballot a person attains a majority of valid votes then they are elected President.

As the Presidency is a non-partisan office with extensive but limited powers, elections are more dignified and collegial than parliamentary elections. Candidates do not need to formally register, and campaigning is expected to be limited.
