The United Republic (U.R.) is a semi-presidential federal republic, with the President of the United Republic serving as the head of state, and the Prime Minister serving as the head of government and chairperson of the Council of Ministers.
President of the United Republic
The current President of the United Republic is _Travis. Presently, the President is appointed by Congress. Previously, the President has been elected or appointed by the United Republic board of directors. Since the formation of the Third Republic in 2023, the President has taken more of a ceremonial role acting on the advice of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Prime Minister of the United Republic
The current Prime Minister of the United Republic is jmvvana. The Prime Minister of the United Republic is the head of government and is appointed by the President with the confidence of Congress. Originally, the Prime Minister was the head of state and of government of the United Republic but has since evolved to only comprise the head of Government. Since the formation of the Third Republic in 2023, the Prime Minister makes the day-to-day political decisions and makes advice to the President directly or through Cabinet.

Vice President of the United Republic
The Office of Vice President of the United Republic existed from 2020 to 2023 as part of the United Republic of Corallium. The only officeholder was Andre_Dre1984.
Deputy Prime Minister of the United Republic
The Office of Deputy Prime Minister of the United Republic existed from 2018 to 2019 as part of the First Republic. Phantom666999/Generalissimo12/TownStat held the office on two separate occasions from 18 November 2018 - 28 April 2019, and 6 May 2019 - 18 May 2019.
Council of Ministers (Cabinet)
Currently, the Council of Ministers is the United Republic's equivalent to the cabinet in other executive structures. Ministers in the Council are appointed by the President, and report to the Prime Minister. Ministers may be assigned portfolios or serve in a general capacity without a particular ministerial focus. There is no confirmation process for Council appointments, but instead all Ministers serve at the pleasure of the President. Cabinet of the First Republic
The Cabinet of the United Republic existed in various forms from 2018 to 2020. When the United Republic was founded, the Cabinet was appointed by the Prime Minister. The Cabinet was usually small and only contained the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and one or two select appointments.
In June 2019, the Cabinet was elected for the first time. Cavemaker, marshy_88, and Wolfyyyyyyyy were elected. This elected Cabinet approved the Constitution of the United Republic act 2019, and the Elections Act 2019. Wolfyyyyyyyy was removed from Cabinet for inactivity, and a by-election was scheduled for July 2019. This election did not occur, and President _Travis abolished the elected Cabinet on 18 July 2019. The elected Cabinet was replaced by an appointed one, which contained _Travis, Cavemaker, and marshy_88. In November _ColinH was appointed to Cabinet so that he would be able to serve as the President.
Cabinet of the United Republic of Corallium
In Cabinet of Corallium was a small body appointed by the President. Cabinet members were responsible for a particular government agency which was prescribed in law.
Congress
The Congress of the United Republic comprises the Chamber of the States and the Chamber of the people, akin to the Senate and House of Representatives (or deputies) in other countries. Each state is allocated one senator, which is filled by the governor or whomever the governor chooses to appoint. Each citizen of the United Republic is afforded a vote in the chamber of the people. Currently, as there is no citizenship infrastructure, only the Chamber of the States is functional.
Congress votes to discuss, debate, and vote on measures proposed by the members or the government, or to discuss matters of state or importance. It also serves as an important forum where both citizens and states can be represented and included in decision making.
President of the Chamber of the States
The President of the Chamber of the States is the presiding officer over the Chamber of the States and fills a role similar to the President Pro-Tempore of the United States Senate. They are elected at the start of each legislative session.

Political parties have existed for most of the United Republic's history. Despite existing, they have never been a significant part of the politics of the United Republic. The current ruling party is the Neoliberal Peoples' Action Front (NPAF), led by President _Travis.
In the past, many political parties have existed. The most prominent parties were the Social Democratic Party (SDP) existing from 2018-2019, the National Party (NP) existing in 2019, and the Democratic Party (DP) existing in 2019.
