History of the United Republic

The United Republic is the longest-lived extant nation in the Creative 1.15 map. It traces its roots to the Creative 1.12 map, when it was founded in late 2018. Since its founding, the United Republic has existed in three republics. The First Republic (2018-2020), the Second Republic also known as Corallium (2020-2023), and the Third Republic (2023 -).

Summary

The United Republic was founded on 18 November 2018 by _Travis and Phantom666999. The foundational states were Norwood and Vale led by the two founders respectively. Norwood served as the first capital. Government offices and Parliament was erected in Norwood by _Travis. The United Republic lay dormant between December 2018 and March 2019, but returned to activity upon the return of _Travis to Project City Build in March 2019. In its early stages the United Republic was a parliamentary republic, with the Prime Minister serving as the head of government and head of state. It was not until May 2019 when Prime Minister _Travis decided to reform the structure of the government, introducing the office of President and scheduling Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The Presidential election process in May 2019 was cancelled, and on 5 May _Travis announced the end of the United Republic Government. Shortly after, on 9 May _Travis announced that the United Republic Government would be re-established with himself as the President, and a cabinet to make all of the key decisions. Cavemaker would serve as the Prime Minister. Elections for Cabinet were scheduled for early June, and Cavemaker, marshy_88 and Wolfyyyyyyyy were elected. The Constitution of the United Republic Act 2019 was passed, which formalised the government arrangements. While a by-election was called to replace Wolfyyyyyyyy who was voted out of cabinet due to inactivity, the election never occurred and President _Travis dissolved cabinet and disestablished the constitution. The Cabinet would be appointed by the President, and Cavemaker and marshy_88 would continue as cabinet ministers.

Around this time on 16 July, CGH_2005 (later _ColinH) withdrew Espen and Usonia state to form the Padaic Republic (Pada). Shortly after MattDB withdrew his state of Port Hylan to join Pada. marshy_88 withdrew his city of Beechwood and formed the state of Balboa in the United Republic. Relations between the United Republic and Pada were hostile during this period. The Southern Marshia dispute and blocking of the waterways around Port Hylan and Beechwood were the cause of a significant level of tensions. Negotiated settlements were made, and a tentative peace was established with the construction of a United Republic embassy in Illemont (the then capital of Pada), and the construction of the Union bridge linking Pada and Oxford, Balboa.

President _Travis grew inactive and took a sabbatical in September 2019, where marshy_88 replaced him as the President. Nine days later, _Travis resumed the Presidency. Later, in November 2019 _Travis formally resigned as President and appointed _ColinH to Cabinet and the office of President. _ColinH would serve as the President of the United Republic from this time to the end of the Creative 1.12 map. The United Republic would not be re-established on the new creative map in March 2020, but would instead lay dormant. In December 2020, with the election of MattDB (at the time NoMalarkey) as President of Corallium, the United Republic would merge with Corallium forming the United Republic of Corallium, and the Second Republic.

MattDB served as the President of Corallium from December 2020 until June 2023, when Corallium was reformed into the Third Republic. President _Travis took a step back and served MattDB's administration as the Secretary of State, Attorney-General, and Presidential transition manager. The Corallish government at this time was organised and a cabinet was appointed with _Travis, former Corallish President jmvvana and buns100. These arrangements lasted until January 2021, where _Travis resigned from Cabinet. Jmvvana was replaced by Admiral buns100 as Secretary of Defense. _Travis withdrew from Corallium and focused on his city of Cape Moss.

In June 2023, _Travis returned to Project City Build after a period of semi-inactivity. Construction was started on his new project of Ellington. MattDB, still the President of Corallium, made an offer to _Travis to re-form the United Republic with the old flag and with _Travis as the President. This offer was accepted, and thus the Third Republic was formed on 22 June 2023. Ellington state led by _Travis, and Usonia state led by MattDB formed the foundation states of the Third Republic. Shortly after, on 11 August 2023 the former holdings of Corallium in the Coral Sea joined the Third Republic as the state of Corallium. Corallium state would later be split into Prima, Saloméa, Albadia, and Zydville. Cape Moss did not join the Third Republic, and still exists as an independent nation. 

In January 2024, former Corallish President and Lucite Leader jmvvana again became active on Project City Build. An agreement was made where jmvvana would join the United Republic and replace MattDB as the Prime Minister. On 13 January 2024, jmvvana was appointed as the Prime Minister and the Commonwealth of Concord was admitted to the United Republic.
